Show and Tell
Whaddup fam! It’s Wednesday and we’re all eager to get over this hump in the middle of the week. We decided to add a little fun to our day and have a good old fashion Show and Tell for you all. Hopefully, it’ll add a little fun to your day too! Being the spontaneous devils that we are, we can only show and tell about random things on hand and in the office at the moment, but here at the JK office, we have nothing to hide, so let’s see it!

Show: Drums
Tell: Bart
“So these are my drums. I’ve been playing drums on and off for about 15 years now. I’m not as good as I used to be ’cause I used to play a lot, but now I’m really rusty, so I suck… but I still really enjoy playing. The reason I started playing drums was because back in elementary school, it was the cheapest instrument. I wanted to play the saxophone, but that was like $800 – $900. Drums in elementary school was just like little pads that you practice on and those were like $50. Lo and behold, after I started playing, I got better and then I bought these drums, which are probably worth like $5000. Red is one of my favorite colors, so I got red. These drums are made out of birch wood, which has a more controlled sound. Birch is a big choice for people who play hip hop or people that play funk; where they need the sound to not resonate so much. One of my favorite drummers, (he just so happens to play on these same set) is Questlove, the drummer from The Roots. I really look up to him ’cause he plays some funky a$$ sh*t. He can make the simplest sh*t sound good. I really enjoy playing drums because with any song, if you dont have a beat, you don’t got sh*t. The beat is the back bone of any song. It’s the part of the song that makes you nod. It’s the part of the song that makes you feel it before your brain even lets you know, ‘Hey, do I like this song or not?’ Before you hear the lyrics; before you hear the piano; the beat has to make you want to shake your booty. And then you’re like, ‘Okay, I think I like this song.’”

Show: Harmonica
Tell: Joe
“This is my show and tell. I just got it; it’s a harmonica. Sometimes I have these ADD moments and I have to fidget around. I have to just do something that’s totally unrelated to what my task is at hand and what I’m supposed to be doing. This is because it just lets my stress out. I’ve been wanting to learn the harmonica for a long long long long time. I already know how to play a lot of different instruments like the guitar, the piano, accordion, and I forgot… some other stuff. But I just wanted to learn, so I got one. I wanted it to be productive, so if I ever wanted to just play some music really quick, it’s not something I have to set up. I can just pick it up and start going off. I’m learning something and at the same time, I’m feeding my ADD distraction.”

Show: Sketch book
Tell: Geo
“So I have my sketch book for arts and crafts. I don’t get to draw as much as I’d like to, but when I do get free time, I like to just draw pretty flowers (and damn, I sound like a pansy, but yeah, anything that’s pretty girly, I like to draw it). I’ll do sketching or I’ll do stuff like water color (this one is not completed). I just get really relaxed and I like to draw stuff, but I’m not a very good drawer. If anyone out there is a good drawer and can teach me something, then please, teach me something. ‘Cause I really suck.”

Show: Work Station
Tell: Casey
“What’s up. This is my work station. I edit here and I do stuff here. This is where all the JK magic happens at after the shoot. Here, I can edit, Photoshop, and organize footage. Yep. This is the work station and I spend lots of time here. Three-quarters of my life, I’ve spent here, now. And I sleep over in the game room sometimes. There’s my headphones and Spiderman. I don’t even know whose Spiderman that is; it just ended up on my desk and now I’ve bonded with Spiderman.”

Show: Bryce Harper Poster
Tell: Kevin
“My item is a poster of Bryce Harper. He’s known as ‘The Natural’ or the ‘Lebron James of Baseball.’ He’s only 19 years old and made his major league debut this year. What I love about him is that no matter what he’s going through, he goes out, plays hard, and does HIS thing without letting other things outside of his control affect him. What’s cool about the poster is the quote that is next to him. It reads, ‘Here, nobody’s expectations are bigger than MINE.’ That’s the mentality I have when I play ball and when I edit.”

Show: Work Station
Tell: Tommy
“This is my work station. What do I do here? I don’t even know what I do here. This is where I handle all the designs and photo edits. Here is a Wacom tablet, which is mostly used for designing. It’s pretty much your screen onto this tablet and you can control everything on your screen from this pad (it’s like a giant track pad, but you use a pen instead). All the projects I work on are on these hard drives on my desk. I have one RAID system with four hard drives in it, one external hard drive, and two hard drives in my computer. Yep. They store EVERY project I’ve ever worked on… besides high school and college stuff… lost all of those. Sad face.”

Show: Dexter with Sweet Tea
Tell: Anh
“So this is my dog, named Dexter. He’s not really a dog because he doesn’t know he’s a dog. He’s a Pomeranian and he’s 8 years old. Today, I met this guy who told me that since he’s 8 years old, he’s actually really 36 years old. Apparently, he read that the first two years of a dog’s life is actually 12 years and every year after that is like 2 or 3 years. So he did the math and Dexter’s about 36 years old. He’s literally like middle-aged and still pretty young (he doesn’t act like it though). But yeah, he’s awesome. Also, a lot of people know about this; it’s McDonald’s sweet tea. It’s only a dollar, which is awesome and you get a large. It comes in a styrofoam cup, so you can drink it all day. It’s not the best sweet tea, but it’s pretty awesome for a dollar (’cause you can get better sweet tea at like Baby Blue’s or Lucille’s).”

Show: Hokkaido Dog Nanoblock
Tell: Anhieee
“Awhile back, my friend gave me this Nanoblock ‘Miniatures’ 3D model kit of a Hokkaido Dog. It came in this cute little bag with 110 pieces. She got me this specific puppy model because I’m always obsessing over puppies and kittens, but I actually don’t know the first thing about taking care of a real living animal. At least this way, I can start with an inanimate object. One day, when I was waiting around in the office for 4 hours by myself, I decided to put the model together. At first, it was actually harder than I thought, but then I finally got the hang of it. Whoever drew those instructions in the manual is really good at their job and should go work for Ikea ’cause sometimes Ikea’s instructions are super confusing to look at (for me, at least). The other little thing next to my puppy figure is some crap that Can, from Poreotics, put together when he was touching my sh*t. Not sure what it is… a warrior? A demon? A warrior demon thing… yeah.”

And there you have it. Our very first JustKiddingFilms Show and Tell; exclusively just for you guys. Thanks for all who attended and until next time, well, just wait for it. We’ve got lots more where that came from!
